KSCR Review: This is a collection of live tracks that Gogol Bordello made, mostly at the BBC and a few other places. Gogol Bordello are very hard describe unless you’ve seen them live (which I have not, alas), but they call themselves “Gypsy Punk” for reasons I won’t go into here (go look them up). This album attempts to catch the exuberance of a live show and by and large succeeds. This record is infused with more energy than most studio albums have and even a lot of live shows. This is playable whether you want Punk or World Music since these guys blend ethnic east-European gypsy sounds with Punk and even cabaret elements. So play it. The sound quality is excellent, considering it was cut live.
